Journal #22) Halsam 04/02/08 Darkfall Diario de Desarrollo: Q&A de la ComunidadArticulo por Tasos FlambourasGracias a todos por enviarnos vuestras preguntas, no estoy seguro de que esperara tantas.Respondí a un par que pensé que era importante responderlas inmediatamente, y luego escogí al azar. Iremos bajando por la lista de preguntas y responderemos a tantas como sean posible. Hoy tenemos doce, querría haber hecho mas y equilibrar los temas, pero no ha sido posible debido a restricciones de tiempo. La semana que viene continuaré con más.Gracias a Shaar por categorizar las preguntas por nosotros. Cuando responda a preguntas específicas trataré también de responder a preguntas relacionadas. Puede que responda a algunas de las vuestras respondiendo a las de otros. Las preguntas enviadas están ahí como referencia, por eso no voy a poner el nombre de la persona que pregunta. Aquí viene la primera tanda:Comunidad: ¿Se podrá descargar el juego, o tendre que esperar a que se distribuya el CD en las tiendas de juegos más cercanas?Tasos Flambouras: Creemos bastante en la distribución digital así que Darkfall será definitivamente descargable con un numero de opciones al respecto. Por supuesto también habrá una opción en DVD para aquellos que lo prefieran.Comunidad: Debido a que Darkfall ha tenido dificultades para asegurar una distribuidora sólida y con los impedimentos que están sufriendo en su lanzamiento el Age of Conan y el Warhammer online, ¿No estaís preocupados de que el juego será incapaz de mantener una provechosa base de jugadores considerando que los otros juegos tienen gigantescos presupuestos y grandes campañas publicitarias?Tasos Flambouras: En términos simples, no es tanto que Darkfall haya tenido problemas en asegurar una distribuidora sino mas bien que las distribuidoras han tenido problemas al asegurar Darkfall. Me explico: Tenemos la capacidad de auto-distribuirnos, así que la competición a otra oferta de distribuidora, además de otras ofertas, es nuestro plan para auto-distribuirnos. En nuestro plan de auto-distribuirnos contratamos los mismos servicios que la mayoría de las distribuidoras usan, así que a efectos prácticos es bastante ventajoso para nosotros, especialmente ya que a los nuevos en la industria del videojuego es raro que les ofrezcan un acuerdo fantástico. Además, conseguir una distribuidora no es algo más crucial que el desarrollo para nosotros, y no vamos a saltar entre ofertas. Tenemos el “lujo” de intentar hacer lo mejor para el juego en este contexto. Todo sea dicho, todavía seguimos hablando con distribuidoras que nos presentan una buena y viable alternativa a nuestro plan de auto-distribuirnos.Presupuestos gigantes y grandes campañas publicitarias requieren de gigantescos pagos a diario. Definitivamente no necesitamos ser el asesino de World of Warcraft para tener éxito, pero esto tal vez no sea lo mismo para otros juegos en desarrollo. Cuando afrontamos la cuestión de donde colocar el presupuesto, decidimos que era mas importante hacer el mejor juego posible y luego dejar que recogiera meritos en el mercado por él mismo. Lo contrario, no es tan bueno para el juego a largo plazo, siendo la calidad comprometida a base de coger recursos de desarrollo y usarlos en el marketing, así que estamos apostándolo todo en nuestra fuerza. No podemos competir con grandes títulos en cuanto a marketing por que al final todo es dólares y céntimos, pero podemos aun hacer un buen juego.Comunidad: ¿Cómo de comunes serán las monturas? ¿Serán baratas para que cada uno pueda permitirse una o en cambio serán caras para darle un poco de “Riesgo Vs Recompensa” al usarlas? Preguntas relacionadas.Tasos Flambouras: Las monturas no serán baratas así que habrá el aspecto Riesgo vs. Recompensa. Sin embargo, serán asequibles a los jugadores intermedios, así que esperamos tener muchas monturas en el juego. Son fantásticas para el transporte y su uso en combate esta especializado. En muchos casos, luchando a pie es mejor y creemos que es un buen equilibrio entre ambos. Las monturas se fabrican creando una figurita que puedes llevar en tu personaje, así que son también saqueables. Cuando se despliegan, se les puede matar también. Puedes bloquearlo y dispararle, abordarlo desde tu nave, tomarlo, etc. Hay muchas razones tácticas de porque no querrás que alguien te embista con su barco en un cierto modo, especialmente si representa una oportunidad de abrir fuego con sus cañones o si tiene un gran numero de tropas de abordaje esperando para saltar al tuyo. Embestir otros barcos o bloquearlos se usara seguramente en las batallas navales donde estén presentes muchos barcos.Comunidad: Una aclaración en cuanto al diario numero 20 sobre que es importante en donde golpeas. ¿Esto significa que también importa en relación a la repulsión o se han añadido lugares de golpe?Tasos Flambouras: Importa en relación a la repulsión, ya que puede desajustar tu puntería, pero también al daño que sufres cuando te golpean por delante, o por detrás. Recibes mas daño si eres golpeado por detrás. Habían muchos huecos donde golpear y no hemos añadido mas, por razones practicas. Y, según están las cosas ahora, no hay muertes de un solo golpe en Darkfall.Comunidad: En cuanto a la maquinaria de asedio, ¿Hacen daño solo a las estructuras o pueden golpear a la gente también?Tasos Flambouras: Harán daño a personajes, monturas, otra maquinaria de asedio y a los barcos. Se usan en la defensa de la ciudad. Queremos también ver a jugadores montando y colocando cañones y otros ingenios de asedio para batallas masivas. Dependiendo de la maquinaria de asedio, se añaden nuevas dimensiones a las tácticas en batalla.Comunidad: ¿Con la IA avanzada de los monstruos enemigos, como de implacables serán en cuanto a perseguirnos? ¿Nos seguirán un tiempo determinado o una distancia? ¿Serán lo suficientemente inteligentes para detenerse si nos ven entrar en una ciudad? También, en la misma línea, ¿Si un monstruo se ve superado en numero o superado en habilidad, intentara huir y buscar aliados cercanos?Tasos Flambouras: Te perseguirán, pero no lo harán eternamente, y volverán a su área. Cuando seas atacado, tendrás un tiempo para atacar y matar a tu atacante sin sufrir una penalización. Si estas con amigos y te ayudan, ellos no recibirán ningún cambio en su alineación. Si alguien que justamente pasa por allí te ve y mata a tu atacante, tampoco. Se podría decir que el atacante se vuelve “gris” para todos los que sean de alineación positiva. Para evitar un efecto negativo hemos eliminado este sistema de los compañeros de clan y de la gente en el mismo grupo. Así que si accidentalmente golpeas a tu compañero de clan o a alguien en tu mismo grupo, no serás un objetivo abierto para todo el mundo. Como habrás podido deducir de esto, puedes pegarte libremente con compañeros de clan o con la gente con la que estés agrupada sin recibir una penalización en tu alineación. Journal # 21) Halsam 15/01/08 Diario de Desarrollo de DarkfallArticulo por Tasos Flambouras (Productor Asociado)Tuve que dejar pasar el diario de la semana pasada y me he visto practicamente obligado a hacer lo mismo esta semana, ya que ando intentando volver a la rutina de las cosas y a acabar un montón de trabajo atrasado, así que haré una actualización del estado esta vez, y si Warcry esta de acuerdo con ello, haré una actualización tipo QA sobre el Darkfall basada en mensajes de la comunidad en la siguiente semana.Aun así, desde el ultimo diario, algunos han tenido unos pocos preciosos días para irse a casa y usarlos en las vacaciones con sus familias. Este año hemos tenido un corto descanso, menos que cualquier otro que hayamos tomado, y andamos intentando hacer la gran cantidad de trabajo que nos estaba esperando a la vuelta. Nos estamos reuniendo de nuevo para trabajar en algunos equipamientos nuevos y realmente fantásticos. Hemos estado realizando un montón de trabajo de oficina, arreglando todo para que funcione como debe funcionar. El nuevo equipamiento nos ha permitido acelerar algunas tareas pendientes y nos esta haciendo la vida mejor con respecto a muchas cosas. Un estudio de sonido esta siendo puesto en marcha para ayudar con los sonidos finales del juego.Resumiendo, tenemos una implementación casi completa del juego, hablando de la tecnología o de la lista de características. Unas pocas cosas que no están aún implementadas y se esta trabajando en ellas son algunos controles de clan, el sistema medioambiental, y algunas optimizaciones de la IA. La IA de Darkfall se parece a la de los bots del Quake, hablando desde el contexto del Darkfall por supuesto. No son la estúpida y predecible IA que sueles ver en casi todos los MMOs, esperando por ahí a que llegue su destino. Retan al jugador y le ayudan a entrenarse, ya que parece como si alguien les controlara. Se esta implementado un nuevo sistema de mensajes por tablas, donde podrás mover y arrastrar tus tablas donde quieras y como tu quieras. Tiene varias características guapas como por ejemplo que te permite arrastrar un objeto y hacer que así muestre sus atributos en el chat, o puedes hacer que los mensajes de tus muertes salgan en mitad de la pantalla, al mas puro estilo FPS.Actualmente estamos probando el juego para hacer un apropiado testeo de QA, realizando optimizaciones al completo para asegurarnos de que funcionara sin problemas, incluso cuando la demanda del juego sea alta.El contenido, por supuesto, se esta llevando gran parte de nuestra atención, por lo que en estos momentos estamos colocando edificios e infraestructuras como carreteras, torres, etc. También estamos añadiendo misiones, y se hacen continuamente para ellas mas recursos de arte. Los sonidos se van añadiendo a todo así como mas efectos de hechizos y cualquier otra cosa que sea necesaria.Estamos yendo a zancadas en cuanto a rellenar algunas posiciones. Un nuevo artista se ha unido al equipo, y aun tenemos algunos puestos que tienen que ser cubiertos, especialmente testeadores internos, y siempre estamos buscando buena gente tengamos o no puestos de trabajo abiertos. Como los puestos que necesitamos son in situ y estamos en Grecia, nunca es fácil encontrar gente cualificada, ya que necesitan realojarse y venir aquí a trabajar con nosotros. Es deprimente a veces oír que hay estudios de juegos que tienen "equipos de pantallazos" mas grandes que nuestro propio departamento de arte, pero eso es lo que significa ser un estudio de juegos independiente.He estado comprobando los foros de la comunidad y tengo que decir que he disfrutado de lo que se discute en la mayoría de ellos. Me han gustado algunas de las encuestas que hay últimamente, y las encuentro útiles, así como algunas opiniones que he leído que son muy interesantes. Este es un buen momento para empezar a poner preguntas que queráis que sean respondidas, y os prometo que comprobare los foros a diario.Justo después del parón vacacional le enseñamos el juego a un par de grupos formados por veteranos de la industria. Estuvieron muy entusiasmados sobre él, lo que nos dio un gran aliento de moral. No puede ser mas específico, pero fue un evento notable por aquí, y este es un diario de desarrollo así que pensé que debía mencionarlo. Todavía no hay nada que anunciar en cuanto a la distribuidora, así como sobre la beta, pero ha habido un montón de actividad relacionada con ambas cosas.Ya se que lo he dicho antes, pero cuando digo que soy "YO" es importante tener en cuenta que expreso la voz de varios en este diario de los que forman este equipo y no es simplemente algo que me siente y lo escriba en unos pocos minutos. Journal #20) Halsam 08/01/08 Diario de Desarrollo de Darkfall nº 20"Respuestas a las preguntas de los fans y tres nuevos pantallazos"Articulo por Tasos Flambouras (Productor Asociado)En este diario hablaré de varias cosas que nos llamaron la atención al leer los foros de la comunidad hace un par de semanas, centrado principalmente en lo que a mi me gusta personalmente ya que la gente esta de vacaciones por las navidades y mi información es mas limitada de lo normal. De hecho, soy el único que queda en la oficina un viernes por la tarde escribiendo esto así que no me puedo volver loco con ello. Alguien preguntó sobre la física de las flechas. En Darkfall, las flechas vuelan en arcos realistas y dejan un ligero trazo al pasar. Vuelan un poco mas rápido que otro MMO al que haya jugado y tienen bastante mas alcance, bastante mas del que he visto en otros MMOs. Diría que la experiencia con el arco es bastante realista. No creo que necesitemos limitar su rango, ya que actualmente debe usarse bastante de la habilidad del jugador, suerte y un montón de experiencia para golpear a alguien estando en el limite del alcance. En otros MMO el rango del arco esta limitado por un limite de radar debido a que tienes que seleccionar tu objetivo, algo que no tienes que hacer en Darkfall. Las flechas en Darkfall hacen bastante daño, y el arco será una poderosa y efectiva arma en las manos adecuadas. Hay una excepción con la física realista de las flechas, y es que algunas flechas mágicas volarán en una línea recta teniendo algunas limitaciones, incluido el daño. Realmente me gusta jugar como arquero en la mayoría de los juegos donde se ofrece como opción, si no esta desmejorado claro. En Darkfall es mucho mas satisfactorio, porque si lo haces bien, tus oponentes serán incapaces de detectarte. Ocurre en el testeo todo el tiempo. No apareces en un radar, no tienen ni idea de a donde mirar, o a lo mejor tienen una ligera idea, deduciéndolo por la dirección en la que fueron golpeados (una flecha que te golpee te dejara knockeado en la dirección del golpe) o puede que un tercer grupo detecte el trazo. Así que tus oponentes empiezan a correr alrededor para que no puedas tener un tiro limpio, intentando al mismo tiempo averiguar donde estas. Se siente genial. Estaba jugando una vez con alguien que se encontraba dentro del muro de la capital humana y le golpee con mi flecha, matándole y haciéndole caer en el foso. Probablemente habrás visto flechas siendo saqueadas de los jugadores en los pantallazos, pero no se pueden recoger si caen al suelo, debido a que en Darkfall no permitimos colocar objetos en el suelo.La opción de solear, en la cual insisto que es la que mas disfruto personalmente y de la que os daré mi reporte personalmente referido al Darkfall. Debido a que no tienes que conformarte con ningún reglamento de alianza o regulaciones, nadie cuenta contigo excepto para tu propio alineamiento y puedes construirte tu propia reputación como jugador en solitario dependiendo de tu estilo de juego. Mucha gente esta preocupada que de ir sola serán un objetivo fácil. Puede que sea cierto en algunos casos, en otros sin embargo, ser un solitario te permite ser alienablemente flexible hacia mucha gente que te hubiera atacado con impunidad si fueras de un clan con el que estuvieran en guerra. Adicionalmente y tras leer algunos comentarios relevantes en los foros pienso que no os dais cuenta del impacto que supone el hecho de que el juego no tenga un radar. Puedes pasar desapercibido cuando la suerte este en tu contra, puedes realizar ataques de golpear y correr, y puedes escapar cuando debas hacerlo. Puedes ser bastante auto-suficiente dependiendo en tu conjunto de habilidades. Puedes agrupar con otra gente en un grupo temporalmente pero siendo al mismo tiempo una estructura poderosa. Claro que si vas en solitario puede que te pierdas la parte de clanes del juego que es muy interesante, o las actividades de grupo como batallas masivas o batallas navales, misiones épicas, etc. Puedes afiliarte a un clan o a un grupo de jugadores y aprender a disfrutar ese aspecto del juego también con tus propios términos. Es un hecho que los artesanos y comerciantes se beneficiaran mucho mas de estar desalineados ya que así podrán ofrecer sus servicios a cualquiera. Así que hasta lo que conozco, ir en solitario puede ser una alternativa divertida. En este diario querría iluminar un debate sobre algo que hemos estado pensando, que otro post del foro de la comunidad me inspiro a preguntarlo aquí. Como muchos sabréis, clanes con mezclas de razas son posibles en teoría, sin embargo los guardias NPC y vendedores harían a los miembros de clanes de razas incompatibles su coexistencia en las mismas ciudades bastante complicada. Hasta ahora, el juego lo hace bastante complicado. Si un clan mixto se encuentra en una zona humana, los miembros alfars y orcos lo tendrán mucho mas difícil que los humanos. Hemos dejado cierta libertad de acción para limitar la reacción de los NPC dentro de las ciudades de clan. Como están ahora mismo las cosas en el testeo interno, los guardias NPC no atacan a los miembros de clan en las ciudades de clan, en cambio los guardias de capitales si atacan a las razas enemigas. Nos gustaría oír unas opiniones, y varias opciones sobre el curso a tomar durante el testeo beta. Un escenario problemático que puedo imaginar es si un clan viene al juego sin saber las normas de razas incompatibles de Darkfall y escogen razas así. Eso, mas el hecho de que solo se permite un personaje por servidor pueden llevar a alguien a borrarlo cuando se de cuenta de que va a ser mucho esfuerzo y un autentico coñazo. Puede ver eso ocurriendo actualmente. Aun así, no queremos hacer el juego molestamente restrictivo así que estamos mirándolo con lupa, y unos reportes iniciales con información sobre esto nos vendrían muy bien.En cuanto a saquear trofeos de tus oponentes, habíamos planeado permitir la toma de la cabeza del oponente como un accesorio, pero no hemos tenido tiempo de implementar esto para el lanzamiento. No hace falta decir que lo parchearemos como una prioridad en cuanto los rangos comiencen a crecer. Mientras, los trofeos tendrán que ser tus estadísticas y los detalles sobre tus muertos, así como los objetos saqueados de las víctimas.Me preguntaron recientemente cual seria el plan después de Darkfall. Es una pregunta relevante ya que fue hecha en un contexto comercial y tienes que mirar hacia el futuro. Menciono esto debido a que ví una pregunta similar en el foro de la comunidad. La filosofía de Darkfall es dar a los jugadores aquello que piden, mejorar notablemente lo que ya hay en el mercado, no tener miedo de las nuevas cosas y llevar la libertad del jugador a nuevos niveles. Seguiremos desarrollando el juego durante su ciclo vital bajo esta filosofía, y continuaremos haciéndolo en los siguientes juegos. Al menos, ese es el plan. Es totalmente posible que veamos nuevas y fantásticas características de las cuales no hayamos hablado o ni siquiera las hayamos pensado o no hayan encontrado su camino hacia el juego mientras Darkfall este vivo y lo mantenemos en mente mientras estamos en el proceso de desarrollo. Un año después del lanzamiento de Darkfall, este será seguramente un juego muy diferente al que será en su lanzamiento.En otro tema que estaba leyendo, el posteador hablaba sobre como en los videos de Darkfall que había visto, el combate parecía bastante simple y parecía ser solo cuestión de coordinación, o algo parecido. Quiero discrepar aquí, es un combate en tiempo real, importan tanto el alcance del arma como el golpe del arma. La coordinación también es importante. Tienes ataques especiales, donde les golpees también cuenta, el fuego amigo esta activo, la detección de colisiones también, puedes empujar a la gente, puedes golpearles, tienes mas opciones de armas de las que puedes imaginar, tienes que seguir al objetivo con tus armas de largo alcance, apuntas con tus hechizos, apuntas con tus ataques, tienes combate montado, combate naval, cañones, warhulks, cientos de hechizos. ¿Qué mas es posible? Algo que creo que no hemos mencionado antes es el hecho de que puedes golpear a múltiples objetivos de una sola vez. Así que si estas luchando con una lanza o alabarda al lado de tus compañeros de clan hay una posibilidad de que si no eres cuidadoso termines golpeándole junto a tu objetivo. Si cargas contra jugadores usando una montura y cortando puedes abatir a varios de ellos si están corriendo en grupitos. Realmente divertido, pero definitivamente no es simple.Hay muchas preguntas con respecto a los tiempos de viaje y como de grande es el mundo. Todavía sigo escuchando que el tamaño de nuestro mundo es de grande como Alemania. Por supuesto que no, no es ni remotamente tan grande. When Mass Effect was originally released last November on the Xbox 360, it unveiled a vast, beautiful galaxy populated by diverse, fascinating alien races. Players stepped onto this stage as Commander Shepard, a hero at the vanguard of humanity's ascension in the arena of galactic politics, and thus began an epic story bolstered by engaging characters and rich, branching dialogue. Exciting combat and robust skill management completed the package, but it was not without flaws. Many small issues have been addressed in the PC release, and the result is a more streamlined, more playable version of one of the best role-playing games in recent memory.
The bulk of Mass Effect remains the same, so for our thoughts on the story, character customization, dialogue, quest structure, and combat abilities, please read our review of the 360 version. This review will focus on the PC experience and how it differs from console play.



None of the changes are drastic overhauls, but they do have an appreciable effect on the gameplay. One of the biggest tweaks is to the combat system. In the 360 version, you have to temporarily pause the action to use any weapons or biotic/tech powers beyond the one you currently have equipped. On the PC, this pause is still available, but weapons and powers have been consolidated onto one screen, along with squad commands which you can now issue inidividually. Pressing the space bar will bring up a heads-up display where you can change weapons or powers and issue commands to your squad. Odds are you'll use this pause very rarely, because your weapons are mapped to the function keys and your biotic/tech powers can be assigned to the number keys

Assassin's Creed features one of the most unique gameworlds ever created: beautiful, memorable, and alive. Every crack and crevasse is filled with gorgeous, subtle details, from astounding visual flourishes to overheard cries for help. But it's more than just a world--it's a fun and exciting action game with a ton of stuff to do and places to explore, rounded out with a complex story that will slowly grab you the more you play. The PC version has a few more issues than its console counterparts, and the keyboard-and-mouse controls strip away some of the smooth magic of exploration. Nevertheless, if you don't mind plugging in a gamepad and have a system that exceeds the system requirements, you'll find the same free-form travels and atmospheric game world that console owners enjoyed last year.



Not enough can be said about the living, breathing universe that you'll inhabit in Assassin's Creed. As assassin extraordinaire Altair, you'll explore three major cities of the Holy Land in the 12th century: Jerusalem, Damascus, and Acre. Each city is beautifully rendered from top to bottom and features meticulously crafted towers that reach for the sky, bustling market squares, and quiet corners where citizens converse and drunks lie in wait to accost you. As you wander the streets (and rooftops), you'll push your way through crowds of women carrying jars on their heads, hear orators shout political and religious wisdom, and watch town guards harass innocent victims. Altair has a profound effect on this world, but the cities are entities all their own, with their own flows and personalities.
The visual design has a lot to do with how believably organic everything feels. The cities are absolutely huge, and though you don't get full exploration privileges in the first few chapters, they eventually open up to let you travel seamlessly from one side to another. Everything is beautifully lit with just the right amount of bloom effect, and almost everything casts a shadow, from tall pillars to Altair's cloak. In fact, sometimes the shadows get to be a bit much and may make you think for a moment that there is artifacting on your screen, when in fact it's a character's head casting a shadow on his or her own neck. Every object, from scaffolds to pottery, is textured so finely that you'll feel as if you could reach out and touch it. Animations are almost as equally well done. Altair scales walls, leaps majestically from towers, and engages in swashbuckling swordfights that would make Errol Flynn proud. And he does it all with fluid ease, generally moving from one pose to another without a hitch. Minor characters move with less aplomb, but that's easy to forgive, considering that the cities are populated with thousands and thousands of individuals.



On a high-powered PC, these elements look even more stunning than they did on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but the splendor comes with a price: The minimum requirements to play Assassin's Creed are surprisingly high, particularly where the CPU is concerned (a dual-core processor is mandatory). On one test PC that runs Crysis at a respectable frame rate on medium settings, Assassin's Creed slowed to a crawl at lower settings. A high-end test machine ran the game with much better results, though with some occasional slowdown.

If you play Devil May Cry 4 on the PC, you should expect all of the same visceral carnage featured in the console versions, but there's a caveat: You'll need a gamepad. If you're a glutton for punishment, you can try using the game's keyboard control scheme, but it's awkward and frustrating. However, assuming that you have a decent controller, you'll find that this excellent sequel is Capcom's finest PC release in years.
It's a challenging experience, though its smoother difficulty curve makes it far more accessible than Devil May Cry 3. In this vein, you're given an excellent number of gameplay choices that help you tailor the challenge to your preferences. You can initially choose one of two difficulties (and if you want to cry like a little kid, you can unlock several more), and you can even choose whether you want the game to perform some combos for you automatically. No, you aren't apt to find Devil May Cry 4 to be excessively tough on your first play-through, although it is no walk in the park, either. Nevertheless, it is generally excessive, and that isn't a bad thing. Stylish action, terrific boss fights, and beautiful, melodramatic cutscenes will inspire you to push forward, and they serve as an appropriate reward for a well-played sequence of demon slaying.

If you're looking to play this year's Pro Evolution Soccer, you could do worse than check out the PC version. Judged on its own merits, it stacks up well against the console equivalents by looking sharp and playing well, especially if you have a couple of Xbox 360 joypads. However, compared to other sports games, Pro Evolution Soccer is struggling to keep up with the times. The presentation is unpolished, with poor online functionality, mediocre commentary, and few officially licensed teams. More importantly, practically no new features have been added to last year's game while the online gameplay is buggy with frequent lag and disconnection problems. Ultimately, PES 2008 plays a great game of football, but it's starting to seriously fall behind its contemporaries in terms of features.

Who knew that qualifying for the Olympics could be so difficult? Instead of a worldwide competition crafted around ideas that fit in with the modern gaming landscape, this is just an archaic compilation of mostly old, painful gameplay techniques that wore out their welcome decades ago. Not only do many of Beijing's events focus on the sadistic control method of making you rapidly tap two buttons until your fingers burn, but the unfathomable difficulty of the early rounds also makes the experience almost as grueling as training for the real thing. The minor redeeming elements only squirt a few drops of perfume on the overwhelming stench of the rest of this game.
Though all 36 events in Beijing 2008 have some problem, the biggest issue is the ridiculous attributes system that you use to level up your team during the qualifying rounds. For some reason, you command a group of athletes who are slow, weak, and embarrassingly out of shape. By winning qualifying events, you can pump points into categories such as power, speed, and stamina. This is in sharp contrast to real life, in which competitors show up to the games fully prepared to face off against the best in the world. If you fail to achieve the goal for the day (such as placing in three of the five chosen events), you are branded a failure and have to start that day all over again. Given that you are athletically inferior to all of your opponents, you'll find yourself bringing up the rear over and over again.

The Guard is basically the "Commander of the Court" with "playmaking" abilities. What is a Guard's most important role? A Guard's primary role is creating optimal shooting opportunities for the team.
A Guard can adeptly dribble and cut through the defense, throw quick passes to jolt the opponents out of sync, or emerge as a hero with their 3-point shots leading the team to victory.
Creating a Guard
When creating a Guard you should consider their future position plans in determining the character' height. In general, a taller player will lose steal and running abilities though they willl gain rebounding and blocking abilities. Depending on the style of guard you wish to create, you may want to make a taller or shorter character.
The Basic Attributes of the Guard
During character creation, you shouldn't focus on developing a character that is too focused on either offesne or defense. The best guards tend to be well balanced. Guards excel in scoring assists, 3-pointers, and steals. A Guards lesser abilities like steals and rebounds can also be powerful factors in a game' outcome.
Basic Guard Gameplay
On offense, try not to grab every 3-point shot opportunity you can get. Instead, make it a goal to pass the ball to other teammates for their shooting chances. On defense, closely guard your counterpart with quick moves. At the same time, target steals from behind them in order to break their dribble and play.

Assassin uses Claw and Projectile class weapons. They are fighters who emphasize on speedy attacks and dodge from enemies attacks.

A warrior is a strong fighter and possesses a great defense against attack. The enemies of a warrior are always forced to be perished when they try to take down a warrior by strength.

This is same as quest in general RPG, but as it is a flight shooting game, diverse style of space missions exists in large quantity, which will not make one player become dull. When such mission is accomplished, gamer gains understanding of scenario, diverse compensation item to provide a high immersion to the game.
02. Battle formation/brigade system
There exists formation system that is similar to general RPG’s party, and maximum of 6 people can be in diverse formation (triangle formation, reverse triangle formation, X form formation and so on) with formation leader in the middle to move around and fight. Also, skill that generates from each formation is all different, and much stronger formation can be formed if members of the formation work in perfect harmony. Also, there is formation system that is similar to general PG’s guild. There can be up to 40 people within the brigade, with brigade leader in the middle. 03. Battle/large-scale battle
ACE Online’s best part is all about users’ battle between each other. Battle between users’ can be experienced through local war such as, 1 on 1 battle, formation battle, and brigade battle. Three dimensional battles in the air and ground will bring you different experience that you’ve never experienced before. As a result of these battles, you can occupy other force to bring profit to your occupying camp.
04. Voice communication system
This is a unique communication method by ACE Online, which enables 1 on 1 voice communication, formation communication, and brigade communication with separate equipment (headset with microphone). Voice form of communication will make communication between the users more freely than text form of communication, and gamer can be more focused on their control. Voice communication by ACE Online will help strategic flight/battle by making large-scale battle, mission where many people can join in, and systematic play become possible.
05. Leader System
The leader, often referred to as the "president", is the person who exercises the right of policy, manages the economic side of the nation, and serves as the commander in chief of the military. If one becomes a nation leader, they will receive strong authority, economic help, and a chance to communicate with the other leader 1 on 1 to settle differences. They are responsible for all conflicts as well.

The decisive battle lasted for five days, and Master blood was defeated by Master Tian Meng's witchcraft called Heaven Ice, and was sealed in a block of one-thousand year ice cube. This ice cube was suppressed at the bottom of the deep pool in Green Scarp.

After Master Blood was sealed, people began to rebuild their homestead. And the whole continent gradually returned to peace and harmony. Due to the experience of this battle with evil, Master Tian Meng and his accompanies in this battle decided to created their own juntas and accepted lots of apprentices in order to increase the force of justice. Thus, Monk, Wizard, Fairy, Tamer and Assassin, those five juntas were created one by one. The force of justice became stronger and stronger.

Nevertheless, after five hundred years, the ice cube which was at the bottom of the deep pool in Green Scarp disappeared suddenly. And then, different kinds of evil ghosts and monsters continually appeared. The evil breath gradually suffused gradually. What had happened? Did Master Blood resurge, or was a new monster born? The five righteous juntas made the appointment to act together to find out the truth.

In the beginning, five beings of unlimited power saw fit to create a world. They gathered bits of themselves and, walking amongst the stars, created a world devoid of fear, of hate, and of danger.
They created the land known as Roika.
When they had finished, they looked upon their world and felt that it was somehow incomplete. Until, from amongst the trees, stepped the curiosity-driven Humans and, from high in the mountains and deep underground, came the mighty Dwarpets. The Gods nodded in quiet approval sensing that their world was now seemed perfect.
That land, long since lost, enjoyed the peace and tranquility of a true Utopia.
For generations the five creators of Roika smiled gracefully upon their work. Doting on their creations like proud parents, they watched as Mankind grew into a species of thoughtful philosophers, loving care-givers, and brilliant scholars. The Gods pushed stars across the night sky to illuminate the pearlescent cities of the Dwarpets and danced through the heavens to the thumping rhythms of their songs. Then, without warning, they decided to leave.
Before they left they did two things.
They passed all of their secrets to the Dwarpets, certain that they alone possessed strength enough to protect them.
And they created the Goddess Rhisis, to watch over Roika and all the life on it.
For a time, things were good. But alone on a planet she barely knew, Rhisis felt the need to create life of her own. She created three beings; and put into each of them an aspect of herself.
Bubble was the kindness of Rhisis, her love for the beings that created her and the love of the life that those beings had created. Iblis was the apathy of Rhisis, her indifference towards Roika, and her lack of care for what would happen if she were to leave. Shade was the hate of Rhisis, her shame at being left behind, her fear of being trapped with beings that could never understand her.
The destruction of Roika began with hate.
Shade, in an attempt to destroy all life on Roika, moved everyone to a small corner of the world and, using nearly all the power available to her, separated it and set it adrift in the great sea that covered the world. The Humans ran to the Dwarpets and, with their help, built caves, cities, and mines, to protect themselves. Shade realized that life had not ended as she had hoped and forced her way into the minds of the Dwarpets, stealing the Gods. secrets and destroying most of the Dwarpets in the process.

Shade created the race of creatures known as Masquerpets to destroy anyone who remained in her way.
Bubble, hearing the cries of the humans, struck at the small continent, scattering the Masquerpets and splitting the land into four pieces.
Iblis watched, doing nothing, saying nothing. Her left eye, blue in color, sparkled like a child's, while her right eye, violet as a winter's dusk, gazed into the nothingness beyond the world.
The remaining Humans armed themselves, ready to face the threat of the Masquerpets and to someday stand against the Goddess Shade herself...

Long before war ravaged the lands of Iris, Eres, the God of Darkness joined with Apollon, the God of Light, to create the world of mortals. Both Gods poured into this world, and its inhabitants, qualities that were unique to each. To populate the world, Apollon created the Elves born out of his love and care for all living things. From Eres, Humans were created to be ambitious, anxious to explore and enjoy the world they lived in. One among many gifts to the people of Iris, the Ethereals were created to oversee use of magic in the world and teach the Irisians how to harness it's use to better their lives.
Upon finding the world complete and to their favor, Eres and Apollon returned to their own realms to rest; Eres to Nephinth, the Realm of Darkness, and Apollon to Arosel, the Realm of Light. Occasionally the Gods would bless the Irisians with their presence, and bring along with them, their gifts. When visiting, Apollon's presence brought joy and delight to the people, while Eres' presence seemed to bring only woes and darkness in the heart of Irisians.
Eres grew jealous of the people's love for Apollon, after all, hadn't they both contributed to the world they so loved? He began hating Apollon and the world they had created. For ages he schemed while building a secret army deep within the depths of his world. Becoming totally engrossed with the task, his visits became less frequent and finally nonexistent. Over time Apollon's visits became irregular as he noticed less rejoicing when he visited the people. It seemed without the contrast of Eres' visits to dampen their spirits, the Irisian people had less need for the refreshment his presence brought.
Reign of Terror

At a time when the people of Iris had not seen or heard from either God in many generations, Eres chose to unleash his hordes. From the depths of Nephinth a bridge was created releasing into Iris thousands of orcs, werewolves, drakes and other terrible creatures born of hatred and evil. Eres created a dreadful race of enormous size, ferocity, and brute strength known as the Titans. By bonding them to his power flow, they received regenerating abilities and innate talents for battle making them the most fearsome warriors the world had ever seen. Having caught Apollon by surprise, the monstrous army swept across the land largely unchallenged. Infuriated by Eres's treachery, Apollon responded by imbuing an army of humans, giving them great skill in weaponry, speed, and battle tactics. These elite warriors became known as the Knights of Apollon and were garrisoned in the city of Randol. The Knights were, and continue to be, a powerful symbol of Apollon's love for the world and its people.
Both sides put out a call for mages, sorcerers, healers and rogues to join the battle. When thousands responded, father fought son and friend bested friend in what became a worldwide civil war. For generations the war continued with tens of thousands perishing by the sword, magic, or bow; most fighting for a cause no longer known beyond their own survival.
As the Irisians fought against the invaders and each other, in the Spirit Realm a climatic battle occurred between the Gods of Light and Dark. In his arrogance, Eres challenged Apollon to a duel to control Iris. Apollon accepted the challenge, hoping it a quick way to end the violence, and the two mighty beings clashed in the battle of the Ages. They fought in levels of power Mortals couldn't imagine, incredible amounts of energy being used by each God in hopes of total destruction of the other. They matched blow for blow for what was many long bitter years in Iris, until each collapsed, exhausted from the exertion of fighting their equal. Both wounded and spent, they retreated to their respective realms to heal and recuperate. Knowing his bond to the Titans could not be restored, Eres severed his connection with them in order to preserve what power he had left. Apollon, happy the battle accomplished something other than Eres' retreat, left his people with a promise of his return.
When their tie was broken with Eres, the Titans on Iris lost their greatest advantage. Instead of being nearly invincible, they became completely mortal allowing the Knights to slay them more easily and balancing the battle lines. With the odds more even, the two armies were at a standoff, neither giving ground. After years of not gaining an advantage, warriors of both armies succumbed to the fatigue of war and began deserting. The races became more withdrawn and isolated; battalions disbanded as Humans and Elves returned home to rebuild their shattered lives. Eventually only the Knights of Apollon and the Titans retained their structure as standing armies. After centuries of bloodshed, a time of relative peace fell across the land; skirmishes with Eres's forces occurred only in distant lands.
As news of a new army amassing far in the North and West came, a conference was called inviting members from each class of the Irisian people to attend. Leaders from among the Knights, Rogues, Mages, Healers, and a small faction of Titans (who've turned against Eres) assembled in Randol to discuss the possible threat. Only the Sorcerers refused to attend, simply sending word that they had their own plans and would wait to see how life unfolded. Several days of heated discussion ended with nothing decided. Some members of the consortium voted to attack while others wanted to wait and see what happened or ignore the threat completely. The lack of direction has left the world of Iris in chaos without any strong alliance among its people.
In preparation for a possible invasion, the Knights have increased security around the city and scouts have been sent to ascertain the threat level. Additionally, spies have been discovered within the city; while werewolves and other evil creatures approach the city walls and attack citizens with more regularity. Skirmishes occur more frequently as friend turns into foe and groups are attacked by thieves and brigands. Squads of Knights have been sent out to patrol the areas and help keep the peace, but have had little effect. Another messenger has been sent to the Sorcerers asking for assistance; their reply has been a series of riddles to be solved. No one knows what solving them may do, but hundreds are doing their utmost to decipher the mystery of the Sorcerers.


Choose Your Destiny
A new summons has been issued for those faithful to Apollon to gather in Randol and unite against the possible new threat. Be you Titan, Knight, Mage, Sorcerer, Healer or Rogue; your friends can become foes as alliances shift. Greed and fear have sown the seeds of terror with endless battles, bloody betrayals, and insatiable ambitions. A call for help has been put forth asking for help to thwart the advance of the Eres's forces. Will you support Apollon and all that is good to save the world from devastation or will you join Eres's ranks and work towards destroying Iris with dreams of personal glory? The choice is yours to make, the life is yours to live. The balance of power is in your hands, choose wisely and enter into what is the Last Chaos!
